Kausarnaag trek 3 days and 2 nights is one of the best trek for with a breathtaking view of the mighty Himalayas. Nested amidst the embrace of Pir Panjal peaks on three sides, this snow-fed lake is the largest alpine lake in Kashmir and serves as the origin of River Veshav. The lake sits at an elevation of approximately 3500 ft above sea level. The journey from Aharbal to Kausarnaag, passing through Kungwattan and Mahinag, forms a prominent trekking route spanning over 3 days. Upon reaching the lake, adventurers are greeted by awe-inspiring vistas, where vibrant shades of blue contrast with the rugged landscape. With its tranquil, crystal-clear waters and the serene summits towering above, this destination offers an idyllic setting to rejuvenate the senses and immerse oneself in the beauty of nature.
Itinerary
Day 1: Aharbal to Mahinag via Kongwattan

- Once every participant is assembled at the Srinagar pickup point. We will start our journey to Aharbal Waterfall at 6 in the morning.
- Once we reach Aharbal we will have lunch and pack our luggage on porters for our onward adventure to Mahinag
- We’ll pass through Kongwattan meadows, enjoying the breathtaking views of the surrounding mountains.
- Once we arrive at Mahinag, we’ll set up our campsite and settle in for the evening.Â
- The total trek distance to Mahinag campsite is 16Â km.
- Overnight stay at Mahinar.

Day 2: Mahinag to Kaunsarnaag Lake

- After breakfast, we’ll set out on our trek from Mahinag to Kaunsarnaag, the largest alpine lake in Kashmir.Â
- Enjoy the scenic trail as you ascend toward the pristine lake, surrounded by towering peaks and lush greenery.
- After enjoying the beauty of Kaunsarnaag we’ll set our base camp here and spend our night. The total distance covered from Mahinag to Kausarnaag on this day will be 8 km.
- Overnight stay at Kausarnag.

Day 3: Mahinag to Aharbal and departure to Srinagar

- After breakfast, begin your trek back to Aharbal, retracing your steps through the picturesque trail.
- Take in the sights and sounds of the forest and mountains one last time as you descend towards Aharbal.
- Upon reaching Aharbal, bid farewell to the beautiful surroundings and depart for Srinagar.
- Total distance covered from Kausarnaag Lake to Aharbal will be 24 km.
- On this day we will reach Srinagar by 6 in the evening.Â
