Trip Itinerary
Day 1: The Valley Opens Beyond Margan
The drive out of Srinagar begins in the cool hours before the city fully wakes, and by the time you reach Daksum, the pine cover and the sound of the Bringhi river running alongside the road already tell you the mountains are about to change character. The climb continues toward Margan Top, a high pass that marks the last threshold before Kashmir's better known valleys give way to something quieter. A short trek from the top leads to Choharnag, a cluster of alpine lakes sitting just above the treeline, still and cold and largely unbothered by footfall. Take your time here; the descent into Warwan Valley that follows is gradual, and the light on the walnut and willow groves lining the valley floor is worth slowing down for. Roads into Warwan can be uneven depending on the season, so the journey is built with enough buffer to arrive unhurried rather than late. By the time camp comes into view in the early evening, the valley has already announced itself in the smell of woodsmoke and the sound of the river.

Day 2: Sukhnai and the Quiet Middle of the Valley
Warwan reveals itself slowly, and today is built around that pace. After breakfast at camp, head out with a packed lunch toward Sukhnai, a small settlement tucked deeper into the valley where daily life runs largely as it has for generations. There is no formal itinerary inside the village beyond presence: walking its lanes, sitting with families who are used to few visitors, and letting conversation happen where it wants to. The afternoon opens into a forest walk along the valley floor, through stands of walnut and pine with the river never far from earshot, a stretch of the day with no fixed destination beyond the walking itself. Return to camp as the light softens over the surrounding ridgelines, with dinner and the sound of the valley settling into night marking the end of the day.

Day 3: Back Across Margan
The return begins after breakfast, retracing the road toward Margan Top and Daksum. Depending on road conditions and group preference, the descent can be routed through Marwah or timed to take in Daksum's forest stretches at a more relaxed pace, small variations that trip leaders will decide on the ground based on weather and daylight. Crossing Margan in good light matters more than the exact route chosen, so departure timing is planned around that rather than the clock. The valley recedes gradually rather than all at once, and Srinagar's noise returns only in the final stretch, arriving by early evening.

Frequently Asked Questions
- Who is this trip best suited for?
- This is an offbeat group trip designed for solo women travellers, friends travelling together, and small groups looking for a calm, intimate experience. The pace is gentle, the group is capped at 12, and the itinerary suits travellers who value depth and conversation over checklist sightseeing.
- How comfortable is the travel and pace?
- Travel is comfortable and unhurried. The drive from Srinagar to Warwan crosses Margan Top and takes most of Day 1, with buffer built in for photo stops and road conditions. Once at camp, the days revolve around a short village walk and easy forest time, with plenty of room to rest and eat well.
- How private and safe does this group trip feel?
- The group is capped at 12 women, your trip leader is a local Kashmiri who knows the Warwan route, and the camp is a private setup on the valley floor. Most travellers describe the trip as one of the most relaxed they have felt in a group setting, partly because Warwan runs largely offline and the dynamic naturally turns inward.
- What about mobile signal and connectivity?
- Signal inside Warwan is limited and patchy at best. We treat this as a feature rather than a limitation. Our team stays in touch with our Srinagar office throughout the trip using local networks and, where needed, contacts in nearby settlements.
- How difficult is the trek to Choharnag from Margan Top?
- The walk to Choharnag from Margan Top is short and gentle, suited to travellers with a reasonable base level of fitness. There is no technical section and the group moves together at an easy pace, with time to rest by the lakes before continuing the descent into Warwan.
- Can I extend the trip in Srinagar before or after?
- Absolutely. Many travellers add a couple of nights in Srinagar to enjoy a Dal Lake stay or explore Yusmarg. Our team is happy to coordinate stay and transport recommendations.
