Day 1: Waterfalls, 900 Kandi & Campfire

Cross the Karnataka Kerala border and head towards the mountains of Wayanad. Begin the day with an authentic Kerala breakfast to fuel up for the adventures ahead. Make your way to Soochipara or Kanthampara waterfalls where a natural pool at the base awaits. If the forest authorities permit based on water flow and weather, take a refreshing dip. Note that the Forest Department limits entry to 1200 tourists per day, so we prioritize this visit early. Travel onwards to 900 Kandi, a stunning viewpoint deep within the forest. Included in your package is the 4x4 jeep ride that ferries you through the rugged terrain. The famous Wayanad Glass Bridge here offers a thrilling walk over the valley with views of thick jungle and rolling hills. After a quick lunch at a local restaurant, the afternoon opens up for optional adventures. Wayanad's longest zipline and sky cycle are available based on weather conditions. Note that tickets are limited and walk in only, so availability depends on the crowd that day. The zipline area also offers a lovely nature walk through tea estates. In the evening, visit Karapuzha Dam for a peaceful sunset and optional adventure activities on the water. Return to your camp by late evening, refresh with tea and snacks, and gather around the bonfire between 8 and 10 PM. After this, loud music is not permitted as we respect the forest surroundings. Share stories, play games, and unwind under the stars. Hot vegetarian dinner is served before retiring to your rooms.

Day 2: Edakkal Caves, Banasura Dam & Return

Wake up to the misty morning weather and fresh forest breeze. After freshening up, head to the ancient Edakkal Caves situated 1200 meters above sea level. The climb involves many stairs but the reward is worth it: prehistoric stone carvings that take you back thousands of years. The views from the top are equally stunning. Return for a late breakfast, pack your bags, and check out. If Karapuzha Dam was missed the previous day, there is an option to visit it now. Continue to Banasura Dam, one of the largest earthen dams in India. Surrounded by the scenic Banasura Hills, the views here are breathtaking and perfect for some final photographs. Lunch is at a local restaurant near Banasura, though food options are limited in these remote areas. Begin the return journey by early evening and cross the Kerala Karnataka forest checkpost before 8 PM. A quick dinner stop at a dhaba or restaurant along the way, and you arrive home in Bangalore around midnight with memories of green hills and new friendships.

How is the travel and accommodation comfort?
We travel in an AC Tempo Traveller with comfortable seating for the overnight journey. The stay is in rooms on a 4 to 5 sharing basis, which keeps the cost affordable while maintaining cleanliness and basic comfort. The pace of the trip is designed to give you enough time at each spot without rushing.
What if I prefer privacy during the trip?
While this is a group trip, we respect personal space. You can opt out of activities if you need some downtime, and there are moments built into the itinerary for solo exploration. For room upgrades to twin or private sharing, reach out to us and we can check availability at an additional cost.
What happens if it rains during the trip?
Wayanad is beautiful year round, including during monsoons. However, rain may affect certain activities like the zipline or sky cycle, which are subject to local authority decisions. The waterfalls are often more spectacular during or after rains. We adapt the itinerary as needed to ensure you still have a fulfilling experience.
Are the optional activities worth it?
The Glass Bridge at 900 Kandi, zipline, and sky cycle are thrilling additions if you enjoy adventure. They are optional because availability depends on weather and crowd limits. If you are keen on these, we recommend starting early and being flexible with timing.
