Frequently Asked Questions
- Is this trip suitable for solo travelers?
- Absolutely. Many of our riders join solo and leave with lifelong friends. The group format ensures you are never alone on the road, with a lead guide at the front and sweep rider at the back. It is perfect for solo travelers, friends, and couples looking to share this adventure with like minded riders.
- What riding experience do I need?
- You should be a confident road rider with minimum 3 years of experience and some familiarity with ghat riding or winding roads. Days 4 and 9 are challenging with 36 and 70 hairpins respectively. This is not a beginner tour, but you do not need to be an expert. We will brief you on proper braking and cornering techniques before the hard sections.
- How do you manage the pace for different riding abilities?
- Our group is limited to 8 to 10 riders to maintain comfortable spacing. The lead guide sets a steady pace with scheduled photo and rest stops every 2 to 3 hours. If you feel tired on any day, you can ride in the support van for part of the route without judgment. The sweep rider ensures no one is left behind.
- What happens if the weather is bad or roads are closed?
- Rain is common in the Western Ghats. Rides proceed in light rain with safety adjustments. In heavy rain or if roads are closed, we have buffer time in the itinerary to adjust schedules while keeping the core experience intact. Our local team monitors conditions daily.
- Can couples ride together?
- Yes, but each rider needs their own bike for safety on the technical ghat sections. Pillions are not recommended for the 70 hairpin and 36 hairpin days due to the challenging nature of the roads. Please discuss your specific situation during booking.
- What about privacy in a group trip?
- While you travel with a group of riders, you have complete freedom during rest stops and evenings. Accommodations are typically twin sharing, but single rooms can be arranged on request at additional cost. The camaraderie builds naturally without forced activities.
