Trip Itinerary

Day 1: Arrival in Kochi

Your Kerala beach trip begins where Portuguese traders once docked and Chinese merchants left their fishing nets behind. Fort Kochi is not a beach town in the conventional sense. It is a layered tapestry of colonial churches, spice scented lanes, and waterfront promenades. Walk through Jew Town where antique shops spill onto narrow streets, pause at St. Francis Church where Vasco da Gama was once buried, and watch the sun dip behind the iconic Chinese fishing nets as the evening call to prayer mingles with church bells. Overnight stay at Kochi.

  • Jew Town
  • Fort Kochi Heritage Area: Explore Chinese Fishing Nets, St. Francis Church, Santa Cruz Basilica, and the historic waterfront.
  • Jew Town and Spice Markets: Wander through antique shops, spice traders, and centuries of trading history.

Day 2: Kochi Sightseeing

Morning light filters through the centuries at Mattancherry Palace, where murals tell stories older than the building itself. The Jewish Synagogue nearby holds the weight of a diaspora that once thrived here. By afternoon, the Hill Palace Museum offers quieter corridors of Kerala's royal past. As evening arrives, Marine Drive becomes a different kind of theatre. Local families strolling, street vendors calling, the city breathing out after a warm day. A sunset cruise or a Kathakali performance, both equally unforgettable ways to close the night. Overnight stay at Kochi.

Day 3: Kochi to Alleppey, Houseboat Day

The drive from Kochi to Alleppey is short, but the transition feels vast. By noon, you board a houseboat that will become your floating home. The next several hours unfold slowly. Palm fringed banks, narrow canals where women wash clothes at the water's edge, children waving from toddy shop verandas. Vembanad Lake opens up in silver stretches. Lunch is served on deck, freshly caught fish and coconut rich curries. As the light softens, the houseboat anchors for the night somewhere between villages, and the silence is almost tangible. Overnight stay on the Houseboat.

Disembark by mid morning with the smell of backwaters still on your clothes. The drive south to Varkala takes you past paddy fields and small towns until suddenly, the land ends in red laterite cliffs dropping straight into the sea. Varkala is not Goa. It is quieter, rawer, with yoga shalas tucked between juice bars and Ayurvedic massage centres. Check into a cliff side stay where the view alone is worth the journey. Spend the afternoon finding your rhythm. A lazy walk along the cliff path, cold coconut water from a beach shack, the first of many Varkala sunsets. Overnight stay at Varkala.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is this trip fully customisable?
Yes. This is a private trip where every element can be adjusted. Add a day in Varkala, skip a temple, include surf lessons, upgrade accommodations. The itinerary is a framework, not a rulebook. Share your preferences and we will adapt accordingly.
What is the best time to take this Kerala beach trip?
Kerala's coast is pleasant year round. October to March offers the most comfortable weather with clear skies and calm seas. Monsoon months (June to August) bring dramatic rainfall and empty beaches, beautiful for those who appreciate that aesthetic, though swimming becomes inadvisable.
How comfortable is the travel between destinations?
All transfers are in private AC vehicles with experienced local drivers who know the coastal roads well. The longest drive is Varkala to Kochi on departure day (approximately 3.5 hours). We factor in rest stops and avoid overnight travel. The pace is designed for leisure, not exhaustion.
Is this trip suitable for couples or families?
Absolutely. The private nature of this trip makes it equally suitable for couples seeking romance, families wanting flexibility with children, or solo travellers who prefer not to share their schedule. Each group experiences the same beaches differently.
What kind of accommodations are included?
We use boutique hotels and heritage properties in Kochi, a traditional houseboat in Alleppey (with private bedroom, attached bathroom, and onboard chef), and cliff facing rooms in Varkala. All stays are chosen for character, cleanliness, and location. Never generic chain hotels.

Price from Rs 29999 per person. Duration: 7 Days, 6 Nights.
